Adar in a leap year, and other customs
- A leap year has two months of Adar: Adar I and Adar II. Purim is in Adar II.
- Born in Adar of a regular year: the bar or bat mitzvah in a leap year is in Adar II. Born in Adar I or Adar II: that same month when the year is a leap year, and Adar otherwise.
- Yahrzeit for a passing in Adar of a regular year, in a leap year: Sephardi custom is Adar II. Many Ashkenazim keep Adar I, and some keep both. HebDate shows both.
- When a month has no 30th that year (Cheshvan, Kislev, Adar I), a birthday moves to the 1st of the next month. For a yahrzeit customs differ, so both dates are shown.
- A Hebrew day starts at sunset. Tick "after sunset" for an evening birth or passing.
